About Tusculum College

Located forty-three miles from Asheville, TN and one hundred miles from Knoxville, and 150 miles to Charlotte, NC, Greeneville, TN offers small city security and charm with nearby city conveniences. Greenevlle offers casual and formal dining options are available, as well as a wide range of outdoor sports and recreation activities. Nearby Asheville offers additional dining and shopping options. Graphic Design

Founded in 1794 and affiliated with the Presbyterian Church, Tusculum College is the oldest college in Tennessee. The campus is situated on 140 acres and has eight buildings, which helps to create a strong sense of community and smaller classes.

Tusculum College offers the BA in visual design. Students enrolling in the program are introduced to commercial typographic, graphic design, and layout considerations, as well as commercial illustration. The use of computers to produce various publications and to produce layout work and digital artwork is covered. During the second year of study, majors select a specific area of interest within the general program in order to receive more concentrated training in a specialization. Internship opportunities with regional advertising, graphic design, and commercial art businesses are possible as part of the upper level course offerings. The program is designed to fully prepare students for the rigors of graduate school. Campus facilities for the visual arts department are located in the Shulman Center, the Annie Hogan Byrd Fine Arts Building, and the Art Annex. Most computer-based courses are taught in the Schulman Center. The college is home to the Allison Gallery, an on-campus art gallery focusing on contemporary art.The gallery hosts approximately eight art exhibitions each academic year.

Educational, career, and personal counseling are available to all enrolled students. Federal, state, and College financial aid are available to students who qualify for assistance. All students are encouraged to apply and contact the financial aid office to learn about all the options available and important deadline dates.

Tusculum College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award baccalaureate degrees, and the Master of Arts in education and the Master of Arts in organizational management.
