Southwest Tennessee Community College is located in the City of Memphis, TN. The area offers a wide variety of attractions, cultural and dining experiences, and outdoor fun. Elvis Presley's home, Graceland, and the famous 'home of the blues,' Beale Street, are the most popular destinations. Memphis is home to a lively arts community, including the Art Museum at the University of Memphis, Ballet Memphis, Belz Museum of Asian and Judaic Art, the Chucalissa Museum (focusing on Native American history and archeology), an IMAX theater, the Delta Blues Museum, Dixon Gallery and Gardens (which specializes in Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings and decorative arts), the Memphis Botanic Garden, the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art, and much more. Day and nighttime entertainment abounds on Beale Street, the Cooper-Young Entertainment District, Overton Square Entertainment District, and year round themed festivals. Museums include Schwab general store, the Alex Haley House and Museum, the W.C. Handy House Museum, the Mississippi River Museum, and the Ornamental Metal Museum. Outdoor activities include Laser Quest, Golf and Games Family Park, or attend the races at Memphis Motorsports Park and Race On Driving Experience. Memphis offers a plethora of restaurants, cafes, pubs, bars, and clubs to suit every taste and cuisine interest.
STCC offers the AAS in graphic arts technology and graphic arts technology/multimedia. Coursework for both programs include typography, graphic design, two and three-D dimensional layout and design, creativity and idea development, pixel imaging, graphic arts terminology, and vector illustration. Students specializing in the multimedia emphasis also take coursework including video editing, and animated graphics.
STCC offers a variety of campus events and activities. Team sports include men and womenˇ¦s basketball, baseball, softball, and cheerleading activities. Academic, career, and personal counseling is offered to enrolled students at no charge. Federal and state financial aid is available to qualified students. A number of institutional and non-institutional scholarships are available as well. Prospective students are encouraged to contact the financial aid office early in their search to obtain more information on financing their education and important deadlines.
