New England Tech began in 1940. It started and remains a school devoted to technical career education.
New England Tech offers an associate's and a bachelor's degree in game development and simulation programming technology. These degrees prepare students for entry-level careers in video game design and software engineering. Coursework includes classes from the software engineering department, and multimedia studies as well as gaming design classes. Students will build a portfolio of games they have designed and created throughout their courses.
The graphic, multimedia, and web design technology associate's degree prepares students for graphic design careers. Students learn in a hands-on, project-oriented manner to use digital photography, computer graphics, and design to create web sites, interactive multimedia, and desktop publishing. Students create web sites, CDs, DVDs, and other elements of a portfolio showcasing their work.
For students interested in film and video, an associate's degree program in video and audio production technology is available. In this program, students learn by doing projects. They use broadcast-quality equipment to gain practical knowledge of how to create audio and video products. Students will be prepared for careers in broadcasting in radio and television, directing, camera operating, videography, and production assistance.
The architectural building engineering technology program offers both associate's and bachelor's degrees. Students learn to design and build buildings as part of a team. Students are taught to consider design, safety, environment, and aesthetics when planning a building. Coursework includes drafting, design, and construction techniques and materials.
An associate's or bachelor's degree in interior design is available to students as well. The program teaches students to consider economic, technical, functional, and aesthetic needs in designing the interiors of rooms. Students learn about basic design principles, drafting, materials, architectural history, and the theory and technology of design.
The financial aid officers at New England Tech are dedicated to help students take advantage of all the aid available. Those interested in applying for aid should first make an appointment for a one-on-one meeting with an aid officer. Students must fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which will determine whether they are eligible for federal and state grants, work-study, or federal loans. Students may also be able to find private loans, scholarships, or arrange a special tuition payment plan.
The Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges accredits New England Institute of Technology.
