Lipscomb University was founded as Nashville Bible School in 1891 by the theologian David Lipscomb. The university began and remains firmly committed to provide a faith-informed approach to each course in every discipline. The university encourages students to develop a sense of world citizenship through a geographically and ethnically diverse student body, wide-ranging cultural and professional growth opportunities afforded by the city of Nashville, study-abroad curricula and foreign mission programs. A vibrant, well-rounded campus life includes social, service, and spiritually oriented organizations and activities, which encourage students to form lasting friendships and to become involved in service to others.

Lipscomb University offers the BA in graphic design, which offers strong curriculum that begins with our Foundation courses. Foundation courses are used to provide students a breadth of experience within their first and second years. These courses build up to the advanced classes, which are geared more specifically to the concentration a student may choose for their final degree. Coursework includes typography, two and three-dimensional design, the history of graphic design, package and corporate design, printmaking, and more. Each student develops a portfolio and has the opportunity to exhibit and present locally and regionally. Study abroad art programs are available as well.

Lipscomb University offers financial assistance from various programs comprised of federal, state, and institutional funds. The programs include grants, loans, scholarships, and work-study. Prospective students are encouraged to contact the financial aid office early in order to meet important deadlines for aid. Enrolled students are provided with academic, career, and personal counseling at no additional charge. Lipscomb University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
