Cameron University is situated in Lawton, Oklahoma within eyesight of the Wichita Mountains. Residents of Lawton and the adjacent Ft. Sill Army base have access to the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge, one of more than 546 refuges throughout the United States managed by the Fish and Wildlife Service. This area was ranked as one of the top 100 cities to live in by Money magazine.

The city offers cultural enjoyment through the Lawton Philharmonic Orchestra, the Lawton Community Theatre, the Museum of the Great Plains, and various art shows including the Arts for All Festival in the spring. Students can enjoy the International Festival each fall with ethnic entertainment, scrumptious food, bargain shopping, and information booths from over 20 countries. Or, students can take a short walk to study among deer, birds, elk, and buffalo that abound in the Wichitas.

Cameron University offers several programs for design students. Their department of multimedia design offers programs leading to Associate of Applied Science and Bachelor of Science degrees in this discipline. The two programs are offered in a two-plus-two arrangement with the Associate of Applied Science serving as a prerequisite for the Bachelor of Science program. These two programs give students the background to become instructional designers, graphic designers, web designers, or multimedia literate instructors or trainers.

The Radio/Television program in the communication department is one of the fastest growing programs at Cameron. Students have access to two fully equipped radio labs on campus, one television studio, and a state-of-the-art radio station, KCCU-FM. Radio/Television students also program Cameron's local campus television network CUTV with campus news, sports, and student government reports. Students gain a wide range of experience working at these facilities as well as local radio and television stations. Course instruction varies from basic to advanced production classes, broadcast news, programming, corporate video and much more. Students in this concentration graduate with a BA in communications.

Students also can gain a BA in art, a BFA in studio art, and a BS in engineering design technologies. Students can also acquire an AAS in computer technologies or advance into the BS in computer information systems. Cameron University offers many courses in computer technologies that serve as a base or sideline for many students who want to pursue careers in computer-based design careers.

Cameron University accepts financial monies supplied by student applications to FAFSA and to state awards for scholarships and loans. The university also provides numerous scholarships to students based upon both merit and need. CU is accredited regionally by The Higher Learning Commission, a Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

Financial aid can come as scholarships, grants, loans and student work. Cameron offers scholarships outside the Federal and state level, and many of their programs and aid programs are geared toward Army personnel, minority groups, and for students who need aid based upon need or academic merit.
