Bob Jones University was founded in 1927 by the Christian evangelist Bob Jones Sr. He believed that Christian students needed a college to guide and train them. His intention was to develop a school that would emphasize performing and visual arts and keep Christ at the center of all university practices and philosophies. The Greenville campus was built in 1946 and had 2,500 students enrolled by 1947.

The graphic design major at Bob Jones prepares students for careers in advertising design, illustration, publishing, studio art, and for future advanced study of design. Students learn about typography, graphic design, drawing, calligraphy, painting, photography, art history, and printmaking. Students also participate in an internship in their senior year. This allows for application of skills to a professional setting.

To begin the process, students must fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students may qualify for federal and state grants, Bob Jones grants, or other grants or scholarships, which do not need to be paid back. Students may also find federal or private loans with the assistance of the financial aid office.
