About Asnuntuck Community College
Asnuntuck Community College is located in the small town of Enfield, Connecticut. Enfield is a suburb located in Hartford County, eighteen miles north of Hartford, Connecticut and eight miles south of Springfield, Massachusetts. Enfield is in the Connecticut River Valley, and there are many parks and recreational facilities nearby. The town is very close to the state line of Massachusetts, and the theme park 6 Flags New England in Agawam, Massachusetts is only six miles away from campus.
ACC offers two-year associate degree programs in arts or science, plus several certificate programs that can be completed in as little as one year. The Associate in Arts degree program has a fine arts option that includes study in design, color theory, drawing, illustration, and basic still photography. Associate in Science degree programs are available in communications and broadcasting with filmmaking, digital, still and documentary photography and Web design as part of the program.
Within the certificate program, students may choose:
- Computer programming or personal computer specialist with study in Web design and development
- Publications with study in digital page design, basic design, and still photography
- Web developer with study in Web design and development and an introduction to computer graphics.
The ACC Foundation was formed specifically to aid students in meeting educational goals by offering scholarships to new and returning ACC students. These scholarships are presented annually at an awards ceremony. In addition to these Foundation scholarships, there are Alumni Memorial scholarships, Phi Theta Kappa scholarships for eligible continuing and transferring students, and the Women's Club of Enfield scholarships. In addition to scholarships, the Connecticut Aid for Public College Students Grant and Asnuntuck Community College Grant may be available.
Asnuntuck Community College is accredited by the Board of Governors for Higher Education and by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc. The school offers students the opportunity to learn in a small classroom environment. The school offers student services including academic advising, career and transfer counseling, disabilities counseling, access to childcare, and other support services. The available extracurricular activities have something for everyone, ranging from poetry and art clubs to intramural basketball to student senate and legislative internships.
