Anderson University is located in Anderson, South Carolina, a town that is surrounded by several thousand miles of lake shore line and mild but seasonal weather. A downtown revitalization project has brought new life to this historic city. The area has entertainment venues such as the Electric City Playhouse and Clemson University for football games. The outdoor enthusiast can enjoy the nearby Blue Ridge Mountains, an area ideal for camping, hiking, camping, cycling, and horseback riding.
Students with a desire to pursue a design career can find their wish through a BA in art with a concentration in graphic design. The graphic design concentration is a blend of training in professional ethics, message clarity, and creative expression. Students utilize visual and verbal forms of graphic design to convey ideas and information through the use of new and emerging technologies. A professional internship is required from all students. This component complements the classroom experience and prepares graduates for the design industry.
The art department also sports the spacious Vandiver Gallery, where students can enjoy and participate in professional and student exhibitions. Local, regional, and national artists display work here, and this venue also provides graduating seniors and impressive showcase for their exit shows.
More than 90 percent of AU students receive some form of financial aid, making Anderson University one of the most affordable independent college or universities in South Carolina. Students apply for Federal aid through FAFSA, and they also can apply to various state awards. AU provides even more monies depending upon need, academic merit, and legacy situations. For instance, students with immediate family members (mother/stepmother, father/stepfather, brother, sister) who earned a degree at Anderson University are eligible for a scholarship if the student lives on campus. This is just one of several available campus scholarships. Anderson University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
