Anderson University is a private, liberal arts institution offering a challenging education in a Christian environment. It is affiliated with the South Carolina Baptist Convention and located in Anderson, South Carolina. The city of Anderson offers many cultural and recreational amenities. There are many recreation and tourism opportunities. Lake Hartwell has 960 miles of shoreline and offers boating, skiing, and fishing. Anderson College provides a full calendar of cultural events at its Callie Stringer Rainey Fine Arts Center. The center has a 1,100 seat auditorium, recital hall, theater, and art gallery. WKU offers a 4-year BA degree in art with a graphic design concentration. The art department is housed in the Rainey Fine Arts Center, with large, well-equipped studios for painting, drawing, printmaking, and photography, plus two graphic design computer labs. The graphic design concentration blends disciplined training, creative expression, and professional exploration to students the ability to use visual and verbal forms of graphic design to convey ideas and information. A professional internship is required of all students to prepare students for entry into the design industry. The program requires foundational coursework in the student's freshman year, offering preparation for work at the upper levels in art and design. Freshmen students also study industry standard software used in both print and Web design. Students then progress into study of graphic design, typography, print and Web production, and Web design, culminating in a Senior Seminar in Graphic Design and the required internship. Additional coursework is available in fields varying from interior design to photography.
Anderson offers many scholarship opportunities based on merit, academic achievement, religious affiliation, and even financial need. Available scholarships include the Baptist Scholarship, the Legacy Scholarship, Honors Program Scholarships, and scholarships based upon the student's chosen college of study. Consideration for many of these scholarships is based upon the entering student's original admissions application.
