About Anderson University

Anderson University is a four-year college located in Anderson, South Carolina, and affiliated with the South Carolina Baptist Convention. Anderson has a population of around 25,000 and earned the title of All-American City in 2000. The city sits in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and is a one-hour drive from the Appalachian Mountains and a four-hour drive from the coast. The economy of Anderson revolves around manufacturing, largely of automotive and metal products, plastics, and textiles. Anderson is home to several annual festivals including the Great Southeast Balloon Fest, held on Labor Day weekend. The Soiree is a gathering of artists selling their wares in the spring. An annual chili cook-off determines who will win the title of "Anderson's Best Chili.¨

The art department at Anderson offers students a concentration in graphic design. The department focuses on technical training, expression of creativity, and professionalism. Students use visual and verbal design techniques to express information and ideas. The latest in technology is emphasized as an important aspect of graphic design. To fully prepare for working in the design industry, students must complete an internship along with their regular coursework.

Students may study for a BA in interior design through Anderson's School of Interior Design. The school emphasizes student-centered learning with a strong foundation in professionalism within a liberal arts education. A concentration in interior design aims to teach students to develop technical skills, problem-solving abilities, project-management skills, environmental responsibility, and professional ethics. Students must complete 15 general education courses, 20 core courses, and 5 art foundation courses. Students have the option to join Anderson University's chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers to help develop relationships and experiences with design professionals.

Anderson is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
