The gallery offers a wide variety of exhibits and events, student and faculty shows, intercollegiate competitions, art workshops and lectures, and exhibits by nationally renowned guest artists. The city and region is also home to a number of art cafes, as well as The Center for Contemporary Arts, which offers exposure to more than 70-artist members' work and ten working studios. The center has four galleries and presents more than 24 exhibits annually by regional, national, and international photographers and artists working in a variety of media. Also of interest to creative types are the Grace Museum, which offers exhibits of art from around the world, and the National Center for Children's Illustrated Literature. Another city feature of artistic note is the number of public sculptures. They are located all around the city, and include such designs as "Jacob's Dream." Located on the university's campus, the work is a 40-foot bronze with four angels ascending and descending a ladder that reaches toward heaven. A wide variety of shopping and dining options are available, including artist's supply stores.
