It worked before, so they’re doing it again: Webware is launching its second Webware 100 Awards, honoring the people’s choice for the best Web 2.0 apps and services. There are 10 categories for awards in the Webware 100 including audio, browsing, video, publishing and photography, communications and more. Each category will have 10 winners in it.
The first stage in this contest is a nomination phase, so if you know of a site that you want people to vote on, nominate it now. Nominations will close on 25 January 2008.
As a warning, there’s no need to nominate a site more than once or to encourage friends to nominate an application or site that you’ve already nominated. Save those efforts for the voting phase, which will be announced after Webware has processed the nominations. Visit the site to learn more.

Lunarpages is running a WordPress Theme Contest, where you come up with the coolest, prettiest, and “most out of this world WordPress Theme.” In exchange, you may win five years’ hosting and $1,000 cash. Or, you might win less than five years’ hosting and a little less money. Either way, you get the recognition and fame associated with being listed on Lunarpages’ PR7 blog, via their PR6 Newsletter, in their forums, and pretty much viewed by thousands and thousands of customers and WordPress enthusiasts all over the world.
Each week starting December 10th, they’ll highlight the top 5 favorites and give the Lunarpages’ community the chance to vote via a poll on the blog for a favorite theme of the week. The winner of the weekly poll is guaranteed a position in the final 12. There will be 6 weekly polls, with the last poll taken between 14-20 January 2008 (so you’ll want to have your entry in by 14 January at the latest).
