European Design Competition of the Messe Frankfurt for energy-saving luminaires and energy-efficient lighting systems for the residential and commercial sectors in cooperation with the European Commission DG JRC are searching for energy-saving light fixtures or lighting systems for home or commercial uses with a new or visionary design. This could be any type of luminaires, which stands out from the rest because of its design or which reinterprets the space in which it is being used. In conjunction with the worldwide discussions on climate, the competition organizers are extremely interested in energy efficiency and this factor will be given special consideration during the evaluation of the products and visionary designs.
The objective of this competition is to award a prize to companies and professional designers who work on designing visionary lighting under the aspect of energy efficiency. The competition also wants to award prizes to and promote talented new designers, who develop visions for the future with lighting designs. The subject of energy efficiency also plays a decisive role here.

For more than 100 years, GE has created imaginative products that change the way people live. Now you have the opportunity to put your imagination to work and potentially win up to $20,000, plus receive national exposure through recognition at the 2008 Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS). Simply come up with an original design, using the kitchen as your canvas and GE appliances as your inspiration.
This contest is open only to NKBA members, kitchen and bath designers, NKBA students and kitchen and bath design students (US and Canada). The Interior Design Awards is an annual program developed by the design industry to celebrate and promote outstanding commercial and residential design. Extensive coverage of projects and their designers is achieved in print and electronic media, including metropolitan and national newspapers, lifestyle and design based magazines. Any Australian-based design professional can enter.
Entry submissions will be accepted from Monday 19 November 2007 to Friday 15 February 2008 for projects completed during the period 1 September 2006 to 31 December 2007. The NASFM Retail Design Awards is the leading retail design competition and the only competition that recognizes innovation in store fixtures, visual presentation, and overall store and department design in 17 categories.

Mark your calendars for Tuesday, 18 March from 5 to 7:00 P.M. That’s when the awards will be presented in front of a crowd of 500 in McCormick Place West following the end of the first day of GlobalShop 2008 in Chicago. The deadlines to enter are 14 December 2007 (early bird - $100 per entry for NASFM & NADI members, $250 non-members), and 15 January 2008 (final - $250 per entry for NASFM & NADI members, $450 non-members). Sub-Zero Freezer Company, the leading manufacturer of residential refrigeration, and Wolf Appliance Company, a leading manufacturer of professional cooking instruments, announced the official call for entries for the company’s 2006/2007 Kitchen Design Contest. This prestigious contest honors design professionals who have helped make Sub-Zero and Wolf the definitive components of the uncompromised kitchen.
Entrants first compete at the local level among fellow design professionals. Fifty regional winners are named from throughout North America and receive cash prizes of over $25,000 and a trip for two to a surprise destination where they compete for national honors. Regional winners will be announced 11 February 2008. Prizes totaling $87,500 will be distributed to the national and special awards winners during the celebration at The Breakers in Palm Beach, Florida, in April.
All design and construction must be fully completed within the contest period of 1 January , to 31 December 2007, and all entries must be received by Sub-Zero/Wolf no later than 11 January 2008. Visit the site to learn more.

George Li..le Management, LLC (GLM), producer and manager of the ICFF, and Bernhardt Design announce a call for entries. ICFF Studio invites submissions from designers working on any and all the product categories exhibited at the ICFF: furniture, seating, carpet and flooring, lighting, outdoor furniture, materials, wall coverings, accessories, textiles, and kitchen and bath. Selected designers win a spot to display their prototypes at ICFF Studio, a group area with individual booths on the exhibition floor.
For consideration, submit: a completed Entry Form; photo prints of up to three product prototypes for possible exhibition at the ICFF; and, supporting information including a biography. Deadline for entries is 15 January 2008. Download the PDF for entry and more information.
