“You Rail” Train Interior Design Contest - Visions of Modern Transportation

bombardier-trainBombardier is a global transportation company that is involved in aerospace and rail transportation. It is announcing an open call for all designers to enter its You Rail Train Interior Design Contest - Visions of Modern Transportation.

What the Contest Is About
What will the interiors of the trains of the future look like?

Will they provide work areas or libraries so individuals can be more productive during their commute? Or perhaps these trains will offer amenities such as massage chairs, 3D movies, or custom cuisine.

bullet-trainThe contest asks for interior designs that are connected to the following topics as described by Bombardier:

  • The Leisure Passenger. The target group of this interior are families and passengers on their way to leisure. They enjoy the services on board and traveling implies some kind of experience for them.

  • The Business Traveler. The design is addressed to passengers on their way to work or back at home and may represent some kind of office space with all necessary elements of a work environment.

  • The Everyday Passenger. The design shall attract passengers to use public transport and give them a feeling of comfort and being at home.


Individuals who want to submit upholstery designs can use the online design tool provided by the contest site by first registering here. Those who want to submit original designs of upholstery or train interiors can do so by registering first. Click here to register.

  • 1st - 2000 €  ( ~ $2,990 USD)

The 2010 Macworld Expo is fast approaching and will take place at its traditional location in San Francisco, California, February 9-13, 2010.

This annual convention is the gathering place for the Mac faithful and will have its usual celebration of all things Macintosh.

If you are a Mac fan and a graphic designer, you have a chance at winning the Macworld 2010 T-Shirt Design Contest.

Contest Rules

  • The design is for the front of a white t-shirt with the words “Macworld 2010″ or with the official Macworld 2010 logo. Click here for the images
  • Contest designs must be created with Mac programs or tools
  • Designs must be original and not contain any copyrighted material
  • Send in your logo design in JPEG format to ncarrara (at) idgworldexpo.com
  • File size should be no larger than 50MB
  • One winner will be selected. The winning design will be designated as the official t-shirt for the expo and be sold online and at the convention

Hugo Fragrances is announcing an open call for all illustrators, graphic designers, photographers, and design fans to enter its Hugo Create: Hugo Man 15th Anniversary Contest. The Hugo Man Fragrance and Hugo Man Bottle have been highly recognizable since the introduction of the products in 1995.

In celebration of the Hugo Man 15th anniversary, Hugo Fragrances is seeking fresh designs that depict, “…the emotional connections that you have with the HUGO Man bottle.”

The theme for this graphic design contest is open to interpretation and may cover a variety of ideas and concepts.

Some of the general rules for entering this graphic design contest are:

  • Use and feature the Hugo Man bottle for your design inspiration.
  • Those that are 18 years or older are eligible to enter this contest.
  • You entry should be in the form of an advertisement, in poster form, depicting the Hugo Man bottle.
  • The contest submissions should incorporate the number or concept of “15” in the overall design.
  • Up to five submissions are allowed per contestant per contest round.
  • All entries must be submitted electronically as a .JPEG that is no larger than 500kb in file size.

Jemcon 2010 Jem Doll Fashion Design Contest

If you are attending school to study fashion design, your interest in this interesting field may have started with something as innocent as designing outfits for your favorite Jem dolls.

Although the Jem toy line and animation series was discontinued in the late 1980s, there is still a loyal following for the brand.

Among the individuals dedicated to the Jem universe are the fans at Jemcon.org who celebrate all things Jem.  In honor of the Jem fashion dolls, Jemcon.org is holding its Jemcon 2010 Fashion Design Contest.

The Theme
For this year’s contest, the theme is “Set Your Sails for New England.” The contest sponsors state:

“We’re asking designers to add an element of sea-breezy adventure and elegant simplicity that reflects this tropical theme.”

The Rules

  • Contestants must be 16 years or older
  • Entries must be submitted using the official contest template. For those who are designing on their computers with a graphics software program, click here to download the template. Click here to download the PDF version if you want to hand draw your design

Entries are judged upon the successful use of the theme, “Set Your Sails for New England,” originality, creativity, and the ease of reproducing the design for a real 12 ½ inch Jem doll.

  • Winning design will be handcrafted and displayed on a Jem doll at the 2010 Jemcon Convention
