First International Poster Competition

The “Tolerance – A Global Challenge” project embodies a number of activities which are meant to contribute to a graduate improving of the society as a whole, giving special attention to the young population between the age of 18 and 28. Its goal is to bring the ideas together, giving the youth a chance to express their beliefs and thoughts through “Tolerance – A Global Challenge” by creating a ‘poster.’ It will have a direct effect on the society by opening new horizons and giving a strong motivation for the youth to work towards a better future. This project should promote the poster as a mean of expressing these ideas among the youth.

The competition is open to art and design students registered at an educational institution for art and design including disciplines such as fine arts, graphic design, communication design, visual communication, media design and other related disciplines. There’s no limit for nationality. Entry deadline is 15 May 2008. The poster should preferably be in English, German or French; however, poster texts in all other languages will be accepted. Ten Images for Ithaca 2008The competition invites this year all designers to set their imagination free and talk about their dreams, whether these are images and feelings the human mind creates while we sleep or their hopes and wishes. Therefore, the term “dream” can also be used metaphorically, it can be the “starting point” of an idea or be the main theme for the final piece.

The ten best entries will be printed into banners with dimensions 2m x 60cm and will be hung along Ithaca’s promenade for the entire summer of 2008. Their creators will have free accommodation in Ithaca on the weekend of the exhibition’s opening (July 2008).

Each individual or group may submit up to two posters. In order to enter the competition, each artist has to register through this website. Each piece must have dimensions of 40cm height x 12cm width (15,75’’ height x 4.73’’ width) and must be uploaded as an electronic file (pdf or jpeg), resolution 360 dpi, maximum file size 10 MB.

How do you travel on a budget? Make a video that’s two minutes or less that demonstrates how you live the budget-savvy life style while on a vacation or road trip! Upload a video that answers the question and you could win $25,000 from Budget Rental Car. Your video must include some car travel and feature a Budget Rent A Car reference and logo prominently shown at some point in the video. View the details at Budget’s “Flip for Budget!” contest.

Every day until 13 June, 2008, Budget will reward a Flip Ultra Series Video Camera to the best video of the day. Digg your favorite video and they’ll award $1000 to the video that gets the most diggs at the end of the contest. At the end of the contest, a grand prize of $25,000 will be awarded to the filmmaker who demonstrates the best ideas for a smart, fun, budget-savvy trip.

Share Your Rights Poster Contest

Shake your Rights! This is the 60th anniversary for UDHR (Universal Declaration of Human Rights). In partnership with ART for the World and NABA Nuova Accedmia di Belle Art - Milano, and with the patronage of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), this event demands a worldwide contest open to students enrolled in fine arts colleges. The contest promoters want to celebrate the Declaration through six main themes: Dignity and Justice, Gender, Participation, Development, Culture and Environment. Artists must evoke these themes through the realization of creative posters. The winning poster will be printed in different languages and distribute by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) to all its offices.

FindYourArtSchool.com announced the launch of an innovative and community-driven online art competition. The competition is taking place at: www.findyourartschool.com/contest/

The art contest will allow submissions through June 15, 2008, and is giving away $3,500 in prizes. The online art competition is targeted to younger adults ages 16 - 35, and uses community-based voting to help determine the winner.

“The contest is founded on democratic principles. The more votes and the higher the score of those votes will directly increase the probability of an artist being a finalist,” stated Elliott Easterling, chief judge of the competition. Users can also promote artists they like through social bookmarking services like Digg and reddit.

Photographer's Forum MagazinePhotographer’s Forum Magazine presents the 28th Annual Spring Photography Contest sponsored by Canon. $4,000 in cash grants plus two - count ‘em - two Canon cameras will be awarded. Safety Scholars Video Contest

According to the National Institutes of Health, young drivers increase their chance of a car accident when they drive with friends or use cell phones at the wheel. The more aware you are of such driving risks, the more likely you are to avoid them. How will your Safety Scholars video address such hazards?

It’s your turn to take the director’s chair. Make a short video (25 or 55 seconds) related to safe driving. Enter it in Bridgestone’s Safety Scholars Competition and your video may be aired as a commercial for Bridgestone Firestone. The three top filmmakers also will each win a $5,000 college scholarship and the ten finalists win a new set of tires.

Illustrators of the future contestIn 1988, Mr. l. Ron Hubbard’s vision inspired a contest for new and aspiring illustrators seeking to become speculative fiction artists. The list of judges for the illustrators’ contest is no less impressive than that of the writers’ contest and represents a virtual who’s who of the field including Frank Frazetta, Vincent DiFate, Bob Eggleton, Stephen Hickman and Stephen Youll.

The Writers of the Future and Illustrators of the Future Contests are international in scope and short stories from the yearly winners selected from around the world are published in the annual Writers of the Future anthology. Each quarter, winners receive money from a pool of $1,500, and annually those winners compete for $5,000 additional prize money. The Contest is open to entrants from all nations. (However, entrants should provide themselves with some means for written communication in English.) All themes of science fiction and fantasy illustrations are welcome: every entry is judged on its own merits only. No entry fee is required and all rights in the entry remain the property of the artist.
