The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) is pleased to announce its 1st Annual “Freedom on Campus” Student Video Contest. Students from around the country have the opportunity to produce a video about policies or practices that stifle their freedoms on campus and win a scholarship and other exciting prizes.
FIRE is looking for student filmmakers to document a free speech controversy on a college campus-either at their own or at another school, and produce a short film about it. Examples include instances when someone has been punished because of his or her speech, student newspapers have been stolen or vandalized, student groups were not allowed to associate, or where speech was confined to a “free speech zone.” To understand more about what FIRE does, you can view their documentaries at thefire.org/multimedia.

MID=MTV ID. In other words, MID is a TV channel identity for MTV that incorporates the MTV logo by any kind of art form - live action, 2D, 3D, stop-motion animation, photography, and anything in between. You are free to make the MID anything you want it to be as along as it does not contravene any broadcast regulations. And more importantly, you want to make sure that the MTV logo is integrated cleverly and correctly. MTV provides you with the MTV logo & guidelines, which you can download. The MID must be any of the following duration: 05, 10, 30. or 60 seconds.
Compose your own original music for your MID. If you can’t compose music or don’t know how, work with someone who can. All MIDs should ideally have original music but to help you out, MTV also is providing you with a selection of music beds and audio templates online.
This is an international call for entries. Deadline is November 30th, 2008, and top-quality submissions will be aired on MTV Asia in 2008/09. Visit the site to learn more.
