Applied Arts Student CompetitionThis competition is now going into its sixth year and open to full and part-time students in creative advertising, graphic design, interactive design, photography and illustration from any country. Work that has been entered in past competitions is not eligible.

ThinkQuest International 2008ThinkQuest inspires students to think, connect, create, and share. Students work in teams to build innovative and educational websites to share with the world. Along the way, they learn research, writing, teamwork, and technology skills and compete for exciting prizes. With an annual competition, it’s never too late to join the 30,000+ students worldwide who have participated since 1996. Start thinking!

This competition is open to students age 9-19. The top 5 teams in each age division receive laptop computers and a cash award for the coach’s school. In addition, the top 3 teams in each age division travel to ThinkQuest Live, an educational extravaganza celebrating their achievements. Dell Re Competition

Dell invites design students and individuals to create a broad range of design concepts and innovations for technology products that demonstrate refreshed approaches and responsible solutions for green computing technologies.

Their goal is to facilitate an open exchange among all peoples of the Earth and contribute to the body of knowledge that advances the practice of environmentally responsible product design for current and future computing technology products.

The competition begins 9 January 2008 at 5:00PM US CST, and ends 2 April 2008 at 11:59PM US CST. There is no cost to enter, but the competition is not open to residents of Cuba, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Sudan, Syria, and where prohibited by law. Other stipulations apply. The Pilsner Urquell International Photography Awards conducts two competitions each year–one for professional photographers and one for non-professionals. Both are open to photographers anywhere in the world.

The winners of the main categories will compete for IPA’s top award of International Photographer of the Year. Those finalists will be invited to attend the Lucie Awards, presented by Pilsner Urquell, where one will be announced as the grand winner, earning the coveted Lucie and a cash prize of $10,000 provided by AtEdge. In addition, the non-professional category winners will compete for the Discovery of the Year Award, for which one will win the Lucie and $5,000 provided by Pilsner Urquell. 2007 launches the Pilsner Urquell Deeper Perspective Photographer of the Year (Special Deadline for Deeper Perspective was 30 June 2007), where both professionals and nonprofessional will compete for that title, win the coveted Lucie and a cash prize ($5,000) sponsored by Pilsner Urquell.

ARTRMX COLOGNE VOL.01Starting 22nd August till 31st August 2008 “ARTRMX COLOGNE VOL.01″ is a topic based art festival that presents contemporary photography, street art, painting, graphics and video art in an extraordinary frame - a platform for lively exchanges between international artists, collectors, gallery-owners and art interested people.

The “ARTRMX COLOGNE VOL.01″ exhibitions take place in different off-locations (such as apartments, empty buildings or lofts) throughout Cologne. To participate in these exhibitions, the artrmx e. V. invites young artists to send in their work or their series in
regards to the given subject for 2008 “WHERE IS MY MIND?” In collaboration with artistic advisers, the artrmx e. V. will assemble and distribute the work among the different exhibition spaces.
