If you’re an eco-minded fashion designer, you need to participate in The Afterlife! AIGA San Francisco is currently rounding up green artists/fashion designers/graphic designers to participate in its 2007 Gala event with the main focus being a recycled paper fashion show/auction.

All submissions must be made from a recycled paper product (paper that’s used before). The deadline for submission (preliminary sketches) is 29 September 2007, so sign up or pass this on to anyone who might like to participate. Proceeds go to AIGA San Francisco. Visit the site to learn more.

Participants in this contest may base their entries on the theme of their choice, although ideally they will reflect corporate issues of the organising company, principally relating to its white wines of the Albariño variety Terras Gauda and Abadía de San Campio wines. Credit will be given for creativity and the incorporation of the Company’s logo into the design. This competition is open to any natural or corporate person subject only to the restrictions imposed by current legislation.

For the first time in cycling history, a fan will design a professional team jersey. Slipstream’s “Get in the Slipstream” contest will allow fans to submit design ideas for the official 2008 Team Slipstream/Chipotle jersey. The winning design will become the official team jersey, worn by the team in and out of competition for the entire 2008 season. The winner will also receive a full team kit and jersey autographed by the team members. A panel of judges, including Doug Ellis and Jonathan Vaughters, will select the top 5 jersey designs on 21 September 2007, and the public will then be invited to vote for the winning jersey.

The APA @ 25 National Photo Competition, Silver to Pixels, provides a great opportunity to showcase the work of talented photographers from across the country. It is a celebration of photography and recognition of the extraordinary transitions in image making processes over the course of APA’s 25 years. The competition goals are to encourage and recognize outstanding work that reflects personal vision as well as technical excellence; to increase market opportunities through vigorous post-competition promotion, and to educate and inspire. Budding fashion designers should drum up their stylish flair and create unique designs to celebrate the second Chester fashion week in the UK. Competitors can win a professional photo shoot with international photographer Chris Morris. The competitions are open to anyone under 25 with less than two years in design industry.The fashion brief is to design an outfit for male or female with the color, texture and shape reflecting a garden theme.

Candidates entering the fashion photography competition should submit three pieces of fashion photography on any theme, which can be from the same range or a range of different shoots. They should be submitted as A3 hard copies and presented to a professional standard.

The deadline for submitting photography is Monday, 10 September and fashion designs Monday, 17 September. Both should be sent to Chester Fashion, 29 Grosvenor Street, Chester, CH1 2DD.

Avid fashion designers and artists are invited to submit entries to the 2007 Villa Maria Cult-Couture Awards. Garments entered for the awards should demonstrate a unique New Zealand interpretation and explore the limits of haute couture and artistry. Villa Maria encourages originality and innovation from designers, this year’s event has been given a stylish, eye-catching new look.

There is $15,000 in prize money to be won in seven categories, including: Recycled Revolution, Formally Yours, Obviously Organic, Flight of Fantasy, Matrimonial Bliss and On the Streets, plus a new award to recognise creative excellence from Manukau designers.
