Brooklyn Art ProjectBrooklyn Art Project is helping an interior design firm source street art photography for permanent installation in a Manhattan retail location. To have your work considered, upload it to Brooklyn Art Project and tag it “streetart7.”

They’re looking for images that are:

  • Visually engaging
  • Metaphorical
  • G-rated
  • Hopeful
  • Upbeat
  • Include street elements (brick, concrete, weathered paint, etc.)

$100,000 Live Edge Electronic Design Award

Live Edge CompetitionElectronics engineers, students and academics around the world are invited to submit designs for an innovative product that utilizes electronic components and has a positive impact on the environment, for example by increasing energy efficiency or reducing carbon emissions. The winning entrant will receive a cash prize of US $50,000 as well as the support to move the design towards production. In addition, up to five entrants will be eligible for ‘honorable mentions,’ each receiving a cash prize of US $5,000.

The closing date for registration is 31 October 2007 and entries must be submitted by 30 November 2007. The competition is open to anyone aged 18 or over and the winner will be announced in January 2008. Full details are available at: www.live-edge.com.

Benjamin Moore Hue CompetitionThe prestigious HUE® Awards, presented by Benjamin Moore to recognize and celebrate architects and interior design professionals who passionately and consistently apply color in their residential and/or commercial projects, will be seeking entries for its 3rd annual competition.

Prize money totaling $25,000 in five categories will be awarded. Join the ranks of past honorees such as Will Alsop, Jamie Drake, Steven Holl, Ibarra Rosano, David Ling, Moore Ruble Yudell, Rockwell Group, Saia Barbarese Topouzanov, Ettore Sottssass, TVS Interiors and Clive Wilkinson. Now in its fifth year, the International Wildbird Photographer competition is generating some of the most exciting images of birds ever seen. With a magnificent prize fund exceeding £10,000, and the worldwide esteem in which the IWP is held, it is the competition that every photographer wants to win. Professional wildlife photographers from more than 30 countries are now submitting entries to the IWP, but less experienced photographers are also encouraged to send in their bird images – several categories are tailor-made for amateurs.

Critical Mass is an annual juried competition sponsored by Photolucida. It is a valuable addition to Photolucida’s popular in-person Portfolio Reviews, and offers an online submission and selection process. Critical Mass participants receive tremendous artistic exposure at a fraction of the cost of in-person reviews. 2007 is the fourth year of Critical Mass.

The aim of Critical Mass and all Photolucida programming is to provide participants with career-building opportunities and to promote the best emerging and mid-career artists working today. This is THE contest to enter to get your work noticed by people who can actually pay you for future work. Consider this contest more of a portfolio review.

Critical Mass 2007 registration closes 26 October. Enter the first stage for $50 - if you’re one of the 150 chosen for the second round, you pay another $250 to have your work sent to a full panel of 200 ju8rors. Contra Character ContestKonami Digital Entertainment, Inc. announced its first-ever online design contest for the Contra 4 mobile game scheduled to be released this fall. The competition extends an open invitation to fans of the franchise to design their own Contra character in honor of Contra’s 20th anniversary. The winning designer will see their character come to life in the upcoming game.

The promotion runs through 1 October on the Konami Mobile Web site (www.konamimobile.com/contradesign), and challenges fans to develop a creative new character that demonstrates the true meaning of the classic Contra game.
