In the 21st century a first-rate interior must not only excel in beauty but be in tune with society and the earth. It must be light on the environment and firm in its mission to serve the humans who will use it. The Smart Environments Awards recognize distinction in interiors that integrate design excellence, human well-being, and sustainability.
The competition is open to all interior design and architecture professionals practicing legally in their jurisdictions. Interior projects completed after 1 January 2002, are eligible. Hurry! Create an inspired necktie design that embodies the signature qualities of Franciscan’s fine Napa Valley wines — vibrant and rich, with hand-crafted elegance — and you could be well on your way to stardom.
The Franciscan Signature Style Competition recognizes undiscovered talent in the world of men’s fashion and runs through 30 March 2007. The winner will be revealed at an event in their honor in New York City on 15 May 2007. Necktie design entries will be judged by a panel of fashion luminaries headed by the noted menswear designer Thom Browne, the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s Menswear Designer of the Year for 2006.

The Re:Design competition gives you the opportunity to show Dynamic Graphics how you have improved your projects. From frightful to fantastic, homely to handsome, unsuccessful to unstoppable, ineffective to impressive: They want all their readers to see how you have transformed your work.
To enter, you’ll include both a “before” and “after” version of the redesigned project you are entering so we can see the transformation. Categories include newsletters, brochures, advertisements, logos/stationery, direct mail, websites, self-promotions, packaging, announcements/invitations/menus/programs and student work. Entry forms will be available on 26 March at Dynamic Graphics.

Four assignments. Four weeks. One championship round. This competition is open to all students who are registered Illustratorworld.com members. So if you wish to participate, register at Illustratorworld.com (registration is free). Both full time and part time students are welcome to participate. Students who post their first assignment by the 19th are in the tournament. If you miss this first assignment, you’re out.
Assignment 1: Create a self portrait in Adobe Illustrator. The portrait must be all vector. The portrait must be created for this tournament. You cannot use work you have already created. You can use any style you wish. Remember your entery must be posted no later than end of day Monday, March 19th.

Agora Gallery of New York City is now accepting submissions for the 22nd Chelsea International Fine Art Competition. Awards include: exhibition at the Chelsea gallery, cash awards, Internet promotion and review in ARTisSpectrum magazine. The exhibition will take place in Chelsea, New York City. The gallery/artist split will be 30/70 and, as part of our continued support to social awareness, Agora Gallery will be donating its share from all artwork sales to UNICEF (http://www.unicef.org/).

Saloman Snowbards has announced their Snowboards Artwork Contest for any individual or group, professional or student and over age 18. Designs will be accepted until 31 March before noon (Paris time). The most interesting designs wsill be presented to the Salomon’s Jury and proposed to the snowbaord team as potential in-line products. Each of the top three selected designs will receive 1500 Euro as a reward. Entry forms are now available for the 2007 American Inhouse Design Awards, the premier showcase for in house design excellence. The competition encompasses inhouse designers and teams within corporations, media companies, non-profits, educational and government institutions. The purpose: to provide much deserved recognition for inhouse designers to colleagues, clients and upper management.
Awards categories focus on the activities and strengths of inhouse design departments, from brochures and collateral, logos and identity programs, direct mail and announcements, and corporate and annual reports to package and p-o-p design projects, sales promotions, news letters, publications and conference and event materials. Each entry is judged against itself, based on its creativity, effectiveness, performance and success, as well as sensitivity to the challenges and constraints that inhouse designers face.
