Unioncamere Piemonte and Regione Piemonte announce an international competition of ideas open to designers, architects, landscapers and artists who are under forty years of age, for the ideation of designs for street furniture, installations and interventions destined for outdoor spaces in Piedmont’s hill and mountain areas, suitable for production using materials and artisanal methods.

The aim of the competition is to gather and compare ideas and technical, economic and cultural proposals in order to identify forms of furniture and interventions that could contribute to enhancing and characterizing outdoor areas, parks, panoramic points, and significant places located in Piedmont’s hill and mountain areas.

The entries submitted to the competition will be carefully evaluated by an international jury of experts in the sector. Deadline is 27 July 2007. Visit the site for details.

If you love t-shirts here’s your chance to see your very own design on a howies t-shirt. This summer they are opening their own t-shirt print shop out in the shed. It’s a bit of a landmark occasion for them really as it’s something they’ve wanted to do since the beginning.

To mark this monumentous occasion howies has decided to run a little competition: They want you to design the first t-shirt that we print out in that shed. That’s right, the first off the press, the numero uno, the one that christens the carousel.

The brief is there is no brief, just make it thought provoking, make it bold, make it beautiful, make it entertaining, or make it plain old dumb - it’s upto you. Do what you love, but make them want to wear it.

The Queens Film Festival is an event that appeals to both the industry and the everyday film lover. Their goal is also to open the world to the cultural and artistic wealth of Queens and create a conduit of sharing with Queens and the world at large. The Transnational Communities Award is open to artistic, cultural and social projects that creatively use the technological and conceptual tools available in the web, broadening the channels of communication and interaction and giving rise to spaces online where practices and stories are shared. The purpose of this award is to foster the access to cultural goods and to the technologies involved in its production and distribution, to promote the diversity of expressions and to recognize the citizen participation of the Transnational Communities that link Mexico and the United States in a daily and permanent way.

The call for submissions is open to individuals, groups, associations, organizations and institutions from Mexico and the United States that develop artistic, cultural and social projects for which the Internet is both a sufficient and necessary condition of viewing, expressing and participating.

AriesWorks Entertainment, a Des Moines-based production company, has announced the call for entries to the 2007 Wild Rose Independent Film Festival. The event, now in its fifth year, will be held October 25-28 in Des Moines at the Fleur Cinema and Cafe.

Filmmakers worldwide are invited to send their features, shorts, documentaries and animated work in to “The Rose” to compete for screening slots and the Festival’s many awards and cash prizes in applicable areas including; acting, directing, editing, cinematography/videography and others, according to a media release. Emerging and student filmmakers are encouraged. The festival also hosts seminars with industry professionals.

The public transport company of the city of Cologne has initiated an international art competition for the artistic design of eight stations - seven below and one above ground - of the new North-South Light Railway Cologne. National and international artists are to be involved in this multi-stage international art competition. Through the artistic design of the stations, the “city below” shall be made accessible for both Cologne’s inhabitants and its visitors as a new place of discovery which sensitizes us for associating with art, and at the same time makes an important contribution to the discussion about topics of urban living, the “city before our eyes.” The financial means for the competition, including the realization of the art works, amount to 1.75 million euros.
