Awards will include: Scholarships and Photography Equipment; Inclusion in Artists’ ShowCase, the feature section in CameraArts magazine. Portfolio reproductions of Artists’ ShowCase for artists whose work is published. All work will be exhibited matted without frames to reduce exhibitors’ costs.

Autodesk Visualization Design Competition

All FIRST teams are invited to create a 30 second animation submission for the Autodesk Visualization Design Competition using Autodesk 3ds Max software that was donated by Autodesk. Teams are challenged to design an animation that best demonstrates the concept of the theme, showcases creativity and technical execution. The Autodesk Visualization Award recognizes outstanding student achievement in animation. Autodesk challenged teams to use Autodesk® 3ds Max® software to produce a 30-second animation that best depicts the theme assigned in the Autodesk competition. This is a terrific opportunity to see how imaginative teams can be using one of the greatest imagination tools in the world. The judges look for concept, creativity, and technical execution. Winning Rose Bowl Float 2006At Left: “Arctic Antics” was the 59th consecutive entry into the parade. Ideas are being sought for next year’s float design.

Want a front row ticket to the 2008 Tournament of Roses Parade and prime seats for the Rose Bowl game? Submit an entry into the Cal Poly Universities’ 2008 Rose Float concept contest.

The winning float concept will become the Cal Poly Universities’ 60th consecutive float in the Tournament of Roses Parade. Aside from having their float seen my millions around the world, the contest winner will also receive two tickets to the Rose Bowl and four tickets to the Tournament of Roses Parade on New Year’s Day in Pasadena. National Cartoonists Society Division Awards

Cherry Blossom Festival Poster Needed

The 40th Annual Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival invites the public to participate in the return of the Festival’s Poster Contest. The winning entry will earn a $500 grand prize, and the artist’s design will be used in posters, souvenir T-shirts and commemorative booklet covers to help promote Northern California’s largest Japanese American community festival.

The design should emphasize the Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival’s 40th Anniversary, and reflect the spirit of the Matsuri (festival) season. Read the rest of this entry »

The Atlanta HipHop Film Festival Call for Entries

The Atlanta HipHop Film Festival (AHFF), presented by Creative Circle Entertainment, is now accepting submissions to compete in one of the fastest growing, highly anticipated, and most innovative film festivals of its kind. AHFF, which will take place August 24-26, 2007, celebrates HipHop and its impact on film and music videos by providing a platform for independent filmmakers and music directors to showcase their projects. “The submission process is definitely one of our favorite parts of producing the AHFF. Accepting and reviewing films from across the world gives us the opportunity to screen interesting, informative and entertaining projects. Each year, the film quality and content surpasses the previous year and are more creative, so we encourage and challenge all filmmakers to step outside the box by capturing their vision for all to see,” states Shameka Gumbs, the Founder.

In 2005, the festival’s inaugural year, 45 films were screened which included international submissions from South Africa, Canada, and Italy. Several entries from 2005 went on to receive distribution deals through Warner Brothers, HBO and Maverick Platinum Entertainment Group. Read the rest of this entry »
