Integrating Habitats is a premier international design competition aimed at generating innovative ideas and site designs that protect and enhance water quality, as well as fish and wildlife habitats. Integrating Habitats calls for innovative, visionary design proposals that combine design excellence, ecological stewardship and economic enterprise.

Integrating Habitats seeks multi-disciplinary, collaborative designs of the future that integrate built and natural environments. Winning designs selected by this world-renowned jury will redefine the current language and standards of environmental sustainability by fostering balance between conservation and development, maximizing biodiversity and safeguarding water quality for this generation and those to come.

Enter the Los Angeles Center For Digital Art (LACDA) juried competition for digital art and photography. Entrants submit three JPEG files of original work. All styles of 2D artwork and photography where digital processes of any kind were integral to the creation of the images are acceptable. The competition is international, open to all geographic locations.

The selected winner receives 10 prints up to 44×60 inches on canvas or museum quality paper (approximately a $1500-$2000 value) to be shown in a solo exhibition in a main gallery from 10 January - 1 February 2008. The show will be widely promoted and will include a reception for the artist.

The VOLVO SportsDesign AWARD is taking place for the fourth time. The industry can apply in various product categories - and for the first time - for special awards like material technologies, brand of the year, or design team of the year.

The Medical Design Excellence Awards (MDEA) program is now accepting entries for its 2008 competition from companies and individuals worldwide involved in the design, engineering, manufacture, or distribution of finished medical devices or medical packaging. Now in its eleventh year, MDEA has previously presented awards to more than 250 groundbreaking products. Entries are accepted in 10 medical product categories, and are evaluated by a multidisciplinary panel of jurors with expertise in engineering, medicine, human factors, industrial design, manufacturing, and other design- and healthcare-related fields. All entered products must be commercially available to be ordered or purchased by 31 December 2007.

With the standard submission deadline of 17 December fast approaching, companies interested in competing in the 2008 program are encouraged to visit its Web site at www.MDEAwards.com for additional details and a downloadable entry form. Winning products will be announced in April 2008, and honored with gold and silver awards at a ceremony during the Medical Design & Manufacturing (MD&M) East Conference and Exposition, 3-5 June 2008, in New York City’s Jacob K. MetalFX® will be honoring those printers and design agencies worldwide that have made excellent progress with the technology. Printers, graphic designers and advertising agencies employing the process in a commercial product during 2007 are eligible to submit their designs and final printed products for consideration.

Artists are called to create a poster for DUMA KEY (written by Stephen King), and the winning design will be used to advertise DUMA KEY in January 2008, and will be seen on the London Underground and at outdoor sites throughout the UK. The designers of the top ten entries will each receive an exclusive bound proof of DUMA KEY with their name printed on the front cover, and the winner will also receive a copy of the finished poster based on their design.
