Art Santa Fe, the City Different’s biennial art fair, is holding a competition to select an art installation for the east facade of El Museo Cultural de Santa Fe in the city’s new contemporary arts district. The open competition will be judged on creativity and the ability to transform the railside exterior of El Museo into a focal point for the new art district. A panel of local arts professionals will select the winning idea. Finalists will have their concepts displayed during ART Santa Fe 2007 in July and the winner will receive a $5,000 award.

Applicants can download an application at Arts Santa Fe. The deadline for entries is 20 April and the winning design will be announced 25 April.

RehabiMed’s objective in organizing this photography competition is to encourage and diversify ways of seeing traditional Mediterranean architecture-ways that are complacent, critical, lively, creative, negative, approving, respectful, etc., and that stimulate us to think. The competition therefore centres on the traditional architecture of Mediterranean countries from countless viewpoints and perspectives. Fidanza is looking for a new design for their 2006 Chevy Corvette C6 Twin Turbo show car and they want you to come up with their new design.

• Design a new graphics package for the Fidanza Twin Turbo C6
• The car will keep its original blue factory color and the same aftermarket wheels.
• This car will be attending Sema and PRI to name a few of the shows
• Winner will be chosen and receive their name on the lower left hand side of the windshield (designed by…), they will receive an 8×10 framed photo of the real finished car they helped design, they will be named on the website as well

The DVD Association has issued its Call for Entries in the 2007 DVDA Excellence Awards, one of the industry’s longest running events and the only DVD awards program judged exclusively by peers, who recognize several titles in each category as best of class.

The purpose of the DVDA Excellence Awards is to honor skill, creativity and craftsmanship in various aspects of DVD production and authoring. Overall quality of a finished DVD title is considered, but skills used in the production of each title determine which entries will win.

Rethink Breast Cancer has challenged everyone interested in fashion across Canada to design/create a unique ‘target’ inspired t-shirt that represents their take on the issue of breast cancer or how the cause has affected them.

The design must:

• Creatively incorporate the signature ‘target’ logo (please see above)
• The colours, shape and placement of the ‘target’ logo can be manipulated as the designer sees fit
• Must be a t-shirt (short, long, sleeves or sleeveless, etc. – students are encouraged to be as creative as possible!)
• Represent the designer’s take on the issue of breast cancer, or how the cause has affected them

The Guild of Accessible Web Designers want a new Website that reflects their aims, that embodies their message, and that reflects their brand. The site entries will be judged on aesthetics, usability, and cross platform and browser compatibility. The design should be a liquid or 100% width layout, and while client-side scripting is allowed, the site must still work if that scripting is turned off. Inspired by the wild, Durban Wild Talk Africa is a premier international wildlife, travel and culture film festival and conference which takes place in South Africa. It attracts the global wildlife, travel and culture film making industry by offering a forum for delegates to meet, network and negotiate with Commissioning Editors, Distributors and Producers.

Project Runway is coming to Canada - Twelve talented and hungry fashion designers are given the opportunity of a lifetime – a chance to break into the notoriously exclusive fashion industry. In each episode one designer is eliminated, until the field is whittled down to only three finalists who will design a collection to show in front of Canada’s fashion community. Five Cuyahoga Community College/American Greetings Excellence in Visual Communication & Design Scholarships are now available for students who wish to enroll in Tri-C’s Visual Communication & Design courses in Fall 2007 (Ohio). The courses are taught at Tri-C’s Western (Parma) and Eastern (Highland Hills) campuses. Each scholarship includes an award of $1,000 divided between two semesters, and a $250 donation to the recipient’s high school art or visual communication department for supplies.

The application deadline is 30 April. To be eligible, applicants must be high school graduates or GED recipients by Fall 2007. Scholarship recipients will be expected to enroll in a minimum of 12 credit hours at Tri-C and declare a Visual Communication & Design major.
