I don’t fully understand why you can charge such a high price for admission fees while there will be no cash prize at all. I understand there are costs to run a contest such as this, but surely the number of entries enables quite a profit for CA. It’s a little disappointing that the only incentive is publicity… what if part of the profits went to a good cause?

Hi Cassie. It’s hard to tell what the exact costs are for this particular publication. But generally speaking, a short run of a high end annual like this, plus the costly four color printing process on high grade glossy paper, isn’t cheap. Add to that the salaries of the editors, computer artists, layout artists, distribution, shipping, press checks, and other costs, and everything starts to add up. Maybe you could contact Communication Art Design and find out more info on their costs. After all is said and done, they just might break even or realize a small profit.
Thanks for the question.

Thank you very much for these posts- I am grateful for your input regarding this. I am in the middle of rebranding myself and want to concentrate on layout design. As part of my clear, concise and uncluttered theme I hope, through this blog, to educate…
