Architects and designers of interiors, fashion, products and graphics, you are cordially invited to enter your work into the 2008 International Design Awards. Professionals and students alike are encouraged to enter. Winners of IDA08 will be celebrated at a cocktail party and week-long reception in Los Angeles or New York in December 2008. In addition, the winners will receive pulication of their work in the 2008 International Design Awards book, to be distributed to museum bookstores nationwide; promotion in email blasts to 100,000 design professionals and potential clients worldwide; year-long coverage on the International Design Awards Web site; critical acclaim by a distinguished panel of judges. Finally, all entrants are automatically included in the IDA Designer Directory.

The Terner Prize is being inaugurated to commemorate Don Terner on the tenth anniversary of his death. It will be awarded biennially to the affordable housing project and leadership team that best exemplifies the spirit of Don Terner’s work, commitment to affordable housing.
One winner will be chosen to receive the First Prize Award of $25,000. Five finalist teams will be awarded leadership stipends of $5,000 so that they may “light the light” for the next generation of leaders in the affordable housing industry by participating in conferences, seminars, or colloquia.
A jury to select the finalists and winning team is comprised of people from the fields of planning, architecture, development, finance, government, academia and media. They are chosen for their demonstrated integrity, expertise and commitment to the guiding principals of the Terner Prize.

Both students and professionals in the field of design may enter for this competition, with no age limit. The challenge is to design a seat or a table in which innovative design/styling contributions are made, bearing in mind the technical specifications in the briefing you can download from the Web site. There are two prizes - one with a cash purse of 4,000 Euro and another with 2,000 Euro.

If you are a designer and have something to say about Design for All, now is your chance to express it with design! EIDD Design for All Europe has launched the Design for All communications competition for posters, institutional videos and guerrilla marketing tools dedicated to capturing the differing perception of its work in the field of Design for All, i.e. design for social inclusion, all over the world and applying it for promotional purposes.
The EIDD Design for All Europe award scheme is endorsed by Icograda (International Council of Graphic Design Associations), while the organizational aspects are the responsibility of IIDD Design for All Italy and Design Center Bologna.

One Show Entertainment keeps up with a fast-changing marketing landscape by recognizing excellence and innovation in the marriage of brands and entertainment — in film, music, gaming, anywhere — from BMW films to King Games to Freixenet’s collaboration with Scorsese and Hitchcock. Entries are judged by a panel of marketing and entertainment industry luminaries, including Brett Ratner, David Lubars, Jon Kamen and Scott Donaton.
All work must be produced for the first time between 1 January 2007 and 31 July 2008. Work produced on behalf of The One Club or One Show is not eligible. Entries may be submitted by any industry professional connected to the creation of a piece of work. Filmed or recorded entries should be longer than 15 seconds and less than 10 minutes, so edit for judging. Web-based entries can involve a URL, as long as the work is live during the judging in August 2008.

With the REHACARE DESIGN AWARD, Messe Düsseldorf awards accolades to design-oriented innovations which are characterized by a humane and sensitive design. With the quality label they are thus offering all winners an effective long-term marketing instrument. Categories of interest include communication aids for visually impaired, hearing impaired, speaking impaired and speech impaired persons, telecommunication aids, aids for writing and reading, computers, entertainment electronics, etc.
The competition will take place before the trade fair (15-18 October 2008). The winners will be honoured at a festive awards ceremony on the evening of the first day of the trade fair and will receive the official confirmation for their product’s excellent quality with the certificate. In addition, all award-winning works will be presented in an attractive exhibition area during the REHACARE. Parallel to that, they will be given another presentation platform here on the competition’s Internet site www.rehacare-award.com and in the bilingual trade publication, which will be published after the trade fair.

An integral part of CCP’s program is to provide opportunities for emerging photo-based artists through education, professional development and exhibition. As part of this commitment, CCP presents a national award for emerging photographers sponsored by Colour Factory.
Awarded to an artist in the first eight years of their practice, the winning artist will be provided with type C exhibition prints (up to 1000 x 760mm), consultation by Colour Factory and a solo exhibition at CCP from 31 October–13 December 2008 as part of CCP’s annual exhibition program.

The Cycling & Health Tech Industry R&D Center is organizing the 13th International Bicycle Design Competition (IBDC) and invites entries. IBDC takes great pleasure in inviting you to take part in the ONLY international bicycle design competition! There is no entry fee. You may read about it on http://design.runride.com and register through this web page from May 1 to August 10 2008. After registration you have until August 10 2008 to submit your work (4 electronic files in jpg format) via email for the First Round. Twenty-one finalists will be selected and notified by September 15, 2008. These twenty-one submit their final work (a small-scale model) by December 20, 2008. Final results will be announced on March 17, 2009, the first day of the 2009 Taipei International Cycle Show. The Grand Prize NT$500,000 as well as high honorary is waiting for you!

The top entrant, as chosen from the publicly voted shortlist, will have the Sackboy or Sackgirl included in the nationwide marketing campaign for LittleBigPlanet on the PlayStation 3. Don’t Panic also offering a copy of the game and a PlayStation 3 to sweeten the deal. There are 185 entries with 243 votes tallied. The top 10 designs will qualify to be judged. FITC is on the move with an imaginative new event for the broadcast and film community. PAUSE: Ideas in Motion debuts November 11 - 12, 2008 at the BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Centre in NYC. From :30 second commercial spots to feature films and experiential design, PAUSE NYC examines the concepts, techniques and principles that drive the world’s leading creative studios.
