A design competition between the euro mints has resulted in the pre-selection by the Mint Directors of 5 designs.
To celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the launch of Economic and Monetary Union (EMU) and the creation of the euro, all euro-area countries will issue a commemorative 2-euro coin with a common design. It will be available at the beginning of 2009.
A design competition between the mints of the euro area has resulted in the pre-selection by the Mint Directors of 5 designs, presented here. The final winning design will be selected exclusively by your votes via this web page.
The selection is open to all EU citizens and residents. Each person may only vote once. A prize of a set of high-value euro collector coins will go to a participant chosen at random from those who voted for the winning design. Voting will be closed on 22 February 2008.

The premier design and interactive media competition for higher education students from around the world. The Adobe Design Achievement Awards celebrates student achievement reflecting the powerful convergence of technology and the creative and interactive arts.
The competition honors the most talented and promising interactive, motion and video, and traditional media created by students.
Prizes awarded include a trip to the Adobe Design Achievement Awards in New York City, over $60K US in cash and Adobe software prizes.

MochiAds today announced that they are launching the “Flash Rock Star Games Contest” with Gaia Online. The contest is designed to recognize new talent among Flash game developers. Winners will be determined by Gaia’s community as well as a panel of judges over a three-month period. The winners will be awarded game development contracts from Gaia and receive over $25,000 worth of cash and prizes.
“This contest is a unique opportunity for Flash game developers to get the exposure they deserve,” said Mochi Media CEO Jameson Hsu. “There are a lot of talented developers out there, and we’re excited to bring them tools that increase community interaction with their games.”
The Gaia Audience Prizes will be determined during the month of April 2008. Contest entries will be showcased to members of the Gaia online community, who will play and vote on their favorite games. The games with the highest community score will determine the Audience Prize results.

The “Call for Entries” is out for the best developed games Independent game developers have to offer. Now in its’ third year, this year’s contest promises to big bigger and better than ever beforewith more games and prizes. There are two catagories for game entries - General and Casual. The Winner of each catagory will receive a specially configured game development workstation and there are several prizes for Fianlists and Semi-Finalists. Also, to celebrate our upcoming generation of game developers, ECD Systems has added a special recognition award for student entries. Winner of the “Best Student Entry” will receive a cash scholarship award.
Voting begins March 14, 2008 so get your game entered early and help “Fuel the Fun”. If last year is an indication of what to expect, several million unique visitors will be coming to the site every month to play games and experience the latest and greatest developments of the Indie game development community. You see, the Indie Game Contest is not only a competition, it is an opportunity for Indie developers to showcase and promote their games and talents.

Alice @ 97.3 radio in San Francisco announces Call for Entries for the sixth annual 3-Minute Independent Film Festival which will be held April 11, 2008 at the historic Bimbo’s 365 Club in San Francisco. With over $10,000 in cash and prizes, extensive radio exposure and more, this season’s juried competition offers filmmakers a unique opportunity to showcase their ‘short’ cinematic masterpiece and be honored in an evening that celebrates the art of short film. Over the last 5 years, more the 100 short films have been screened at Alice’s 3-Minute Film Festival with over $60,000 in cash and prizes awarded. We are looking forward to receiving more innovative and creative works for our 2008 festival.
The only limit to creativity is the running time of your film. Your short film must be 2 – 5 minutes long. The running time does not count closing credits, so your film can run over 5 minutes if you’re running closing credits. Deadline for submissions is March 24, 2008. Submissions are free. Enter today. Your film could be chosen and showcased at Alice’s Film Festival in April, 08 where an esteemed jury will choose the best overall film in each category to win cash and prizes in a special award ceremony at Bimbo’s 365 Club in San Francisco. Society Medals and Allen & Overy Awards
• 1 Gold Society Medal and a prize of £10,000
• 2 Silver Society Medals and prizes of £2,000 each
• 3 Bronze Society Medals and prizes of £1,000 each
• The Allen & Overy Prize of £1,000 awarded for the image which best reflects the theme of “Justice around the World”.
• Under 25 Gold Medal and a prize of an Olympus E510 Digital SLR with double zoom kit camera for the best image by an entrant under 25 years of age on the closing date. The Society is grateful to Olympus for their sponsorship of this award.
• Deadline for entries: Friday 14 March 2008
• Selection date: Thursday 15 and Friday 16 April 2008
• The winners will be announced and Awards presented at the Press Reception on Thursday 12 June 2008, at Allen & Overy’s new building at Spitalfields, London
• Entry fee is £15 (€25) per person
• Each photographer may submit up to 4 prints
• Image size should be no larger than 16” x 20” (40.7 x 50.8cm), with a maximum paper size of 20” x 24” (50.8 x 61cm)
• Over 120 prints will be selected and will be reproduced in a full colour catalogue. All entrants will receive a copy of the catalogue.
• The Exhibition will tour from June 2008.
• Exhibitors will have the opportunity to sell copies of their prints.
Student Entries – If 5 or more full time students enter from one educational institution, the entry fee will be reduced to £10 per student. Entries must be sent together in one package.
