Alice @ 97.3 radio in San Francisco announces Call for Entries for the sixth annual 3-Minute Independent Film Festival which will be held April 11, 2008 at the historic Bimbo’s 365 Club in San Francisco. With over $10,000 in cash and prizes, extensive radio exposure and more, this season’s juried competition offers filmmakers a unique opportunity to showcase their ‘short’ cinematic masterpiece and be honored in an evening that celebrates the art of short film. Over the last 5 years, more the 100 short films have been screened at Alice’s 3-Minute Film Festival with over $60,000 in cash and prizes awarded. We are looking forward to receiving more innovative and creative works for our 2008 festival.

The only limit to creativity is the running time of your film. Your short film must be 2 – 5 minutes long. The running time does not count closing credits, so your film can run over 5 minutes if you’re running closing credits. Deadline for submissions is March 24, 2008. Submissions are free. Enter today. Your film could be chosen and showcased at Alice’s Film Festival in April, 08 where an esteemed jury will choose the best overall film in each category to win cash and prizes in a special award ceremony at Bimbo’s 365 Club in San Francisco. Society Medals and Allen & Overy Awards

• 1 Gold Society Medal and a prize of £10,000
• 2 Silver Society Medals and prizes of £2,000 each
• 3 Bronze Society Medals and prizes of £1,000 each
• The Allen & Overy Prize of £1,000 awarded for the image which best reflects the theme of “Justice around the World”.

• Under 25 Gold Medal and a prize of an Olympus E510 Digital SLR with double zoom kit camera for the best image by an entrant under 25 years of age on the closing date. The Society is grateful to Olympus for their sponsorship of this award.

• Deadline for entries: Friday 14 March 2008
• Selection date: Thursday 15 and Friday 16 April 2008
• The winners will be announced and Awards presented at the Press Reception on Thursday 12 June 2008, at Allen & Overy’s new building at Spitalfields, London
• Entry fee is £15 (€25) per person
• Each photographer may submit up to 4 prints
• Image size should be no larger than 16” x 20” (40.7 x 50.8cm), with a maximum paper size of 20” x 24” (50.8 x 61cm)
• Over 120 prints will be selected and will be reproduced in a full colour catalogue. All entrants will receive a copy of the catalogue.
• The Exhibition will tour from June 2008.
• Exhibitors will have the opportunity to sell copies of their prints.

Student Entries – If 5 or more full time students enter from one educational institution, the entry fee will be reduced to £10 per student. Entries must be sent together in one package.

SAN DIEGO, California, January 10, 2008 - The American Design Awards is inviting graphic and web designers from around the world to participate in its 2008 Winter Semi-Annual Design Contest. The Winter and Summer Semi-Annual Design Contests which are now in their sixth year, are the flagship of the American Design Awards which attract an average of five thousand participants annually.

Deadline to submit entries for the 2008 Winter Semi-Annual Design Contest is February 15, 2008. Applications must be submitted online through the American Design Awards website.

The top three entries in each of the twenty-two design categories will be considered for the Award of Design Excellence – this award is presented to designers or design firms who display outstanding design and creative abilities, while maintaining high ethical standards.

The American Design Awards mission is to provide a fair and ethical platform for all graphic and web designers of varying experience levels and disciplines to compete on, while providing a worldwide audience to showcase to.

With the ever-changing landscape of the design industry, the American Design Awards is also expanding its code of ethics by which designers are graded and judged. “Ethical standards have always been valued and exercised in our competitions; this is by far the most important qualification of any designer entering the awards program” said Kevin Javid, Vice President of the American Design Awards.

“Our organization’s mission and the purpose of our events are to strengthen and emphasize ethical practices in our participants, benefiting both the designer as well as the design industry as a whole.”

Online Animation Community’s Bumper Blastoff Contest Calls for Animators to Create Animated Bumpers and Compete for Prize Money

SAN ANTONIO - In response to positive animator feedback, MyToons.com, the world’s premier online animation community, is now accepting entries for Bumper Blastoff, its newest international animation contest, through February 28, 2008. Contestants are asked to create original animated bumpers lasting 30 seconds or less, for a chance to win their share of $7,000 in cash prizes. All animators, from students to professionals, are invited to enter Bumper Blastoff at MyToons.com.

Special Student Category:

Six “Rising Stars” in the student category will receive $500 each. One of the student winners will also be crowned “Supreme Rising Star” and will receive a professional portfolio review by INTERspectacular, Victor Newman of Freestyle Collective, and Michael Waldron of Nailgun.

Everyone else is invited to compete for one of MyToons.com’s three “Super Star” Awards. Winners will receive $1,000 each, with one “Supreme Super Star” grand prize winner being awarded an extra $1,000. In addition to these great prizes and worldwide exposure, MyToons.com will award limited edition T-shirts to randomly selected contestants on a weekly basis.

CYNETartTMA Hellerau hosts an international competition of CYNETart, inviting artists and art groups to present their projects every two years. They can apply with projects that fully utilise digital technologies in their conceptual, creative and performing processes, thereby opening up opportunities for digital performance and their relationship to factors such as time, space, physical presence and social encounters. An international jury with representatives from well-established media culture institutions and experienced scientists with a background in media art history will decide about the winner of the CYNETart-award and the sponsorship award. It will also decide on the award of the artist-in-residence-scholarship funded by the Ministry of Culture. On the occasion of the Chess Olympiad 2008 in Dresden (12th until 25th November 2008) we will together with Zentrum Mikroelektronik Dresden AG (ZMD) tender a so-called chess-media-art-award for the amount of €5.000 for the first time.
