The Ministry for Culture and Heritage, in association with the Wellington City Council (New Zealand), propose to create a memorial park in front of the National War Memorial in Wellington. The park is intended to improve the setting of the National War Memorial, to create a space in the capital city for the development of new memorials from countries which New Zealand has a close relationship with and to provide a space for people to congregate on ceremonial occasions as well as provide a space that can be utilized by day to day users.
The Ministry is now seeking expressions of interest from architects, landscape architects or other designers for the memorial park. From those who make submissions, a number will be invited to submit design proposals. Of these, a final design will be selected and a contract for the development of the design of the park may be awarded. Entry is restricted to New Zealand based designers and New Zealand designers living overseas.
The closing date for expressions of interest is 5:00pm, Friday, 15 June 2007. Visit the site for details.
