At Right: Critical Mass Winner Donald Weber.
Critical Mass is an annual juried competition sponsored by Photolucida. It is a valuable addition to Photolucida’s popular in-person Portfolio Reviews, and offers an online submission and selection process. Critical Mass participants receive tremendous artistic exposure at a fraction of the cost of in-person reviews. 2007 is the fourth year of Critical Mass.
The aim of Critical Mass and all Photolucida programming is to provide participants with career-building opportunities and to promote the best emerging and mid-career artists working today. This is THE contest to enter to get your work noticed by people who can actually pay you for future work. Consider this contest more of a portfolio review.
Critical Mass 2007 registration closes 26 October. Enter the first stage for $50 - if you’re one of the 150 chosen for the second round, you pay another $250 to have your work sent to a full panel of 200 ju8rors. Everyone who pays the initial $50 fee will receive the monograph books by the 2007 winners as well as the CD-ROM. Visit the site to learn more.
