Integrating Habitats is a premier international design competition aimed at generating innovative ideas and site designs that protect and enhance water quality, as well as fish and wildlife habitats. Integrating Habitats calls for innovative, visionary design proposals that combine design excellence, ecological stewardship and economic enterprise.
Integrating Habitats seeks multi-disciplinary, collaborative designs of the future that integrate built and natural environments. Winning designs selected by this world-renowned jury will redefine the current language and standards of environmental sustainability by fostering balance between conservation and development, maximizing biodiversity and safeguarding water quality for this generation and those to come.

The National Association of Home Builders’ 50+ Housing Council has issued a call for entries for The Best of 50+ Housing Awards 2008, the premier design and marketing competition for the seniors housing industry. Professionals involved in this market niche have until February 29, 2008 to enter their best community designs, model merchandising, and advertising and marketing efforts.
The 2008 program features more than 50 categories covering all aspects of the 50+ housing market. Active adult categories range from overall community and clubhouse design to condominium unit design and model home merchandising. Other design categories include aging-in-place, assisted living, congregate-living community, continuing care retirement communities, mixed-use, multifamily housing, renovated housing and special-needs housing.

Microsoft has announced the launch of its 6th annual worldwide Imagine Cup competition with a total prize fund of USD 200,000. This year’s theme is “Imagine a world where technology enables a sustainable environment”.
The Imagine Cup now incorporates nine categories, consisting of Software Design, Embedded Development, Game Development, Project Hoshimi: Programming Battle, IT Challenge, Algorithm, Photography, Short Film and Interface Design.
The competition is open to all college or university students in part-time or full-time education. Last year, more then 100,000 students from over 100 countries participated in the event. HDFEST is now seeking entries of films for its 2008 Festival Events. HDFEST 2008 marks the organization’s 9th year of celebrating High-Definition filmmaking. The festival screens exclusively movies shot with Hi-Def or HDV cameras. All festival content is also projected using HD technology. Festival events have been taking place since 2000. Festivals take place annually in the UK, Finland, New York City, Seoul and Los Angeles. HDFEST also includes panels and seminars on digital filmmaking and HD technology.
HDFEST is open to submissions of feature films, short films, music videos, animation, experimental films and documentaries created using HD or HDV technology. All movies must have been completed after January 2006.
HDFEST also has a unique festival category recognizing achievement in High-Definition animated filmmaking. Deadline for entry is 15 January 2008. Visit HDFEST to learn more.

Enter the Los Angeles Center For Digital Art (LACDA) juried competition for digital art and photography. Entrants submit three JPEG files of original work. All styles of 2D artwork and photography where digital processes of any kind were integral to the creation of the images are acceptable. The competition is international, open to all geographic locations.
The selected winner receives 10 prints up to 44×60 inches on canvas or museum quality paper (approximately a $1500-$2000 value) to be shown in a solo exhibition in a main gallery from 10 January - 1 February 2008. The show will be widely promoted and will include a reception for the artist.

The VOLVO SportsDesign AWARD is taking place for the fourth time. The industry can apply in various product categories - and for the first time - for special awards like material technologies, brand of the year, or design team of the year.

Space Fashion Design Competition Launches with prizes valued at more than $10,000.00!
Intended to increase public participation in space tourism by both students and professionals, the DestinySpace Fashion Design Competition will also promote awareness of personal space travel and space education opportunities through design contests.
Based on lessons learned from the 2006 Japan space fashion show, they are pleased to announce the first space fashion design contest in the United States. This event is supported by the recently formed Space Fashion Organization and is being sponsored by Rocketplane Global.
Officially launching at this years California Space Authorities Space Style 2007 event, this competition is an opportunity for the public to influence the clothing worn by future space travelers, and lay the ground work for enhanced technological developments in the design and manufacture of Space Couture.

Cool apps that surprise and delight mobile users, built by developers like you, will be a huge part of the Android vision. To support you in your efforts, Google has launched the Android Developer Challenge, which will provide $10 million in awards — no strings attached — for great mobile apps built on the Android platform.
In the Android Developer Challenge I, the 50 most promising entries received by 3 March will each receive a $25,000 award to fund further development. Those selected will then be eligible for even greater recognition via ten $275,000 awards and ten $100,000 awards. Visit the site to learn more!

ThinkQuest inspires students to think, connect, create, and share. Students work in teams to build innovative and educational websites to share with the world. Along the way, they learn research, writing, teamwork, and technology skills and compete for exciting prizes. This competition is open to students age 9-19. The top 5 teams in each age division receive laptop computers and a cash award for the coach’s school.
