At least, not this summer. So remove that silly outfit - you look pitiful.
But, it is summertime, and I’ve learned this past month that 1/3 of my readers must be students. I know this, because they’re missing. Plus, the supply of contests has dwindled to a mere trickle. But never fear, I’m not going on vacation.
With that said, a few months ago I began tracking my visitors…not down to the name and street address, mon cher - oh no, just the city. California’s way ahead, with 1,441 visit this past month from LA, San Fran, and San Diego, among other cities. New York is running a second with 935 visits from 69 cities. New York, Albany, and Buffalo head the list.
I want to say hi to those singular individuals who dropped by from Mililani, Kihei, Kalaheo, Kailua Kona, Honokaa, and Lahaina. Thanks for stopping by, and next time bring a friend! I wish I were there!
Have a great weekend and don’t blow your collective heads off with those fireworks.

The Ample Sample design competition has posted its winners, with Rugburm coming in at top. But, check out the site to see some more interesting ideas.
Rugburm uses recycled objects from design firms. Rolling the carpet sample tiles to different diameters yields different comfort densities. Ergonometrics determines how to locate the rolled tiles. Tying the tiles and cardboard tubes like a “popcorn string” provides stability and comfort.
Clever, no?

Identity and community evoke powerful emotions, ideas and images with people from all ages and backgrounds in the UK, however it is even more emotive for young people growing up around the country. Do Britain’s youth share a similar perspective on life? What affects them emotionally? How important is family and their social group? What concerns them? Getty Images is addressing all of these questions by offering 13 to 18 year olds across the country the opportunity to express how they see themselves and their lives through My Britain, a unique photography competition that will go live on 4 July 2007. Entrants will be able to take part and submit their images that reflect their lives, communities and feelings of what it’s like for a young person to live in today’s Britain, by visiting www.gettyimagesmybritain.co.uk.
My Britain will run from 4 July until 15 September 2007. The shortlist of regional finalists from the South East, South West, London, West Midlands, East Midlands, East Anglia, North East, Yorkshire, North West, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will be announced in September 2007 followed by the announcement of the overall winner.
