You might have noticed the “Shelter Me” competition offered by Design 21 with a deadline of 17 June. Design 21 is also offering two other competitions in conjunction with the Shelter Me entry. One is “Child’s Play,” where you design an object that encourages children to cultivate their own imagination and creativity.
The “Global Warming” competition asks participants to create an educational campaign to raise public awareness of the problem of global warming and the contribution of our daily lifestyle and activities to this phenomenon. The aim of the campaign is to provoke people to think about the issue and how their individual consumer choices and energy consumption play into the equation.
Your entry may address the broader topic of global warming or highlight a specific factor, but any facts contained in your entry must come from a verifiable source (you must quote the sources of your information in your project description).
The campaign may employ any media (print, billboard, clothing, film, animation, music etc) or a combination of formats. Pretty impressive prizes - 1st place, US $5,000. Deadline 17 June. Visit the Design 21 site for details about all three competitions.

Pete Case, creative director of digital design agency Gloo, and recently appointed jury chairperson for the Digital Category’s Judging Panel of the 2007 Loerie Awards, is calling on the top creatives in the digital industry to enter their best work for this year’s awards.
“The Digital industry has dramatically increased its profile within the marketing and advertising mix and because of this we expect a record number of entries, as well as an even higher level of creativity this year. Last year we saw a digitally based campaign win the integrated advertising Grand Prix for the first time in Loerie’s history. This has set a benchmark for others to leap over and we want the entries to reflect the highest standards of excellence in this innovative category,” says Case.
“In the Digital categories, the judges will be looking for creativity across a growing number of digital platforms, from the internet space, to CD roms, online media campaigns and pioneering work on cellphones. There’s a new category for this year which embraces digital campaigns and there are many enhancements to the judging process itself, all aimed at finding and rewarding the best work out there.”
The Loerie Awards is a non-profit event that recognises and rewards the mastery of creative excellence. Entry deadline extended to 30 May. Judging will take place in June 2007 and finalists will be announced at the end of the judging week.

Each submission should embody a new angle on the everyday of a kind that provides the foundation for everything that MUJI does.

With the success of last year’s writing contest, BioWare has decided to follow it up this year with a world design contest. Anyone who has dreamed of working as a world designer will find this a unique opportunity to get their work noticed by the right people. We are looking for exceptionally talented level designers to help develop BioWare’s first MMORPG in Austin, Texas.
BioWare asks for designers to create a Neverwinter Nights adventure to showcase their world design skills using the Neverwinter Nights 1 Aurora Toolset. There are a lot of options to consider when creating a module in the Toolset, but it is important to remember that we will be mainly looking at the technical skills and creative level design used.
When hiring world designers, BioWare looks at your scripting/technical abilities, your creative level design skills, your ability to create cinematic moments, and your ability to create interesting and fun puzzles. Because BioWare is known for quality, we also value a world designer’s ability to create stable, bug free work that is well documented.
Visit the site to learn the module parameters and other details. Deadline: 20 July 2007 by 11:59 PM Central Standard Time (the time zone of Austin Texas).
