Weekend Musings…

clueless

Silly Dog.I often wonder what my readers do on a Friday night. Or, for the weekend for that matter. Do they work all weekend, or do they go out to play? Some of you were busy in past weekends with your entries to the Jumping Fence Design Competition.

Over 2,000 entries were submitted to the Jumping Fence Design Competition, according to the organizer, the Hong Kong Equestrian Company. Among them, 1,740 entries were for the junior section, which was open to people aged 16 or below. There were 270 entries in the senior and 83 entries in the professional categories.

So, obviously the only “busy” people on weekends are those under age 16, as they cannot possibly design equestrian fences during history or chemistry class, right? Or, perhaps, few designers over age 16 could give a crap about horse fences.

As you can see, the dog made it through his surgery. Have a great weekend!

Saatchi Absorbs Students in Online Gallery

Chinese Art

Chinese youth, new to democratic freedoms, are trying to find their individual voices–many through art.

“There are so many artists in China who want their work to be seen,” he [Charles Saatchi] said in a recent interview at his London home, pausing every now and then to scan the large computer screen on his desk. “These students, like all the others, want to know what’s going on around the world.”

Among the young artists whose work can be seen on Charles Saatchi’s new Chinese Web site are two who posted self-portraits: Huiyuan Sun, who posted a series of photographs called “A Little Matter and My Face,” shown above.

But Mr. Saatchi says he won’t stop with China. Over the next six months his team hopes to draw in artists from India, Russia, Spain and South America. Visit Stuart, portion of Saatchi’s site, a repository for student art, photos, profiles, images, and more to learn about Saatchi’s efforts.
