The Jilted Film Festival™
The Jilted Film Festivalâ„¢ will not send you a rejection letter. We will simply not call you, hope you forget about us, and meet someone else (less good looking)... Their "Thought you wouldn't show" deadline is 1 April 2007...
Founded by a filmmaker whose comedy short was rejected from five (count 'em FIVE) major film festivals despite belly aching laughs and rave reviews from test audiences. She found little comfort that many colleagues, all creators of brilliantly hysterical films, were experiencing the same. She vowed to avenge their collective rejection and decided to start the first film festival solely for films that have been jilted by other film festivals.
Each submission must have been rejected from at least one Film Festival. We accept films that have played at other festivals, as long as youÃÂve been rejected at least once (isnÃÂt once more than enough?)
We accept comedy shorts produced/rejected any in any year (yes, you can dig out that short from 1999). Each submission must be a DVD U.S. format, a comedic short, less than 30 minutes in length. Submission DVDs must be labeled with the title of the submission, contact name, phone number, and email.
All applicants must be at least 21 years of age.
Do not send any materials besides your DVD, signed application form, and check/money order or PayPal transaction confirmation page. Including stills, bio, etc. will disqualify you - and we'll still cash your check. Contact from you, your agent, or producer's rep to "talk up" your film will disqualify you. If you have any of the above, you're not really Jilted.
Multiple entries from filmmakers are accepted. Each submission should be mailed separately. Do not contact us asking to waive the entry fee. We're trying to create a level playing field. If we did it for you then we'd have to do it for everyone - and you know what they call people that do it for everyone...
