The Society for Arts and Technology in collaboration with the Fantasia Festival, presents Anima 06 (The Soul of Animation). This is a video game trailer contest and the entry details are so fresh that they have yet to be translated into English. However, from the PDF application form (which is bilingual), I believe that the application is due on 1 July this year, but the entries might be due at a later date? Imagine if you lived in a 8-by-5-foot space in a restaurant window that faces a Main Street in a town in central America for a week. Would you consider your every move as art? Kentucky artist Lauren Argo is making an effort to prove that her daily life - as well as anyone’s daily life, perhaps - is art, and her stint in 21C Museum Hotel’s restaurant window in Louisville, KY ends this Saturday, 10 May. Nearly everything the 24-year-old installation artist does for the next five days can be viewed around the clock. From brushing her teeth, styling her hair and putting on makeup to creating art, acting, dancing or sleeping — it’s all on exhibit.
Applied Arts Web Design Awards Competition

Applied Arts, Canada’s premier magazine of visual communications, announced their first stand-alone Web Design Awards competiton. Winners from categories including Business, E-commerce/Transactional, Entertainment, Educational/Reference/Self-Promotional, Web Log and Experimental/Artistic will be published in a special section of the January 2007 edition of APPLIED ARTS magazine. They will also be posted online later that month.The Call for Entry will be available on their site to download in July 2006, so you might want to bookmark that page or apply for entry information in any one - or all four - of their entry categories. The entry deadline for the Web Design Awards is 28 August 2006.

First launched in 1970, the Creativity Awards is one of the oldest and most well established graphic design competitions. Each year we receive thousands of entries from firms of all sizes; our list of winners includes the most prestigious agencies, design houses and media creators from around the world. The yearly competition culminates with the publication of the Creativity Annual: a 400 page, full color hardcover distributed worldwide by Harper Collins. Eight possible divisions, including New Media & Web Design, and numerous categories within the divisions. All submissions must have appeared in print, or been created between January 1, 2005 and June 1, 2006. Entries may originate from any country. Non-English entries should include an English translation. A $10 late fee is applied to entries received after Sept 1, 2006, and entries received after Sept. 15, 2006 will not be accepted. Create A Dream Car and Win $2,500 from Atari

Atari invites all novice designers to create an image of their dream concept car. The winner will have their design driving alongside cars such as the Lamborghini, Ferrari and Aston Martin as a fully functioning 3D vehicle within Test Drive Unlimited. The winner will also receive a financial reward of $2,500. As a condition of winning the Contest, each entrant agrees to supplement his/her Entry by creating and submitting blueprints for the car’s interior and exterior, if such blueprints are requested by Sponsor. A blueprint represents the car exterior from the front, side, back, and top as well as interior without perspective distortion, and serves as a source from which the car may be rendered in 3D. All Entries must be received on or after 12:00:01 am EST May 15, 2006 and on or before 11:59:59 pm EST June 30, 2006, regardless of method of entry. Michigan residents have a chance to make their mark on Michigan’s automotive heritage by participating in the 2006 License Plate Design Challenge. A new graphic design will replace the Great Lakes Splendor version, commonly called the “Bridge” plate for its depiction of the Mackinac Bridge. New sales of the Great Lakes Splendor design will cease next year, though motorists who already have that plate may continue renewing it if they wish.The deadline for submissions is midnight, June 23. Entry forms are available at www.Michigan.gov/sos and at all Secretary of State branch offices. Forms are being sent to public and private schools and home-school organizations to encourage student participation. Rules and guidelines available online.
